Getting very excited for the Quarters Arts Festival tomorrow!
We will be at Boyle Street Plaza during the festivities, doing some hands-on work on the York: Moments project throughout the evening.
Here’s a lovely description of the project as a whole, from our friends at the Quarters Arts Society:
May 1st is a big day for us!
While the festival rages, a quiet first is taking place as our Artist in Residence program kicks off at the Plaza…
York : Moments
Over the next several weeks our artists in residence will be collecting personal stories, heritage documents and images pertaining to the York Hotel that once occupied the empty lot at 96th street and 104th avenue.
It is the goal of the project to initiate and develop a dialogue with former residents and others for whom the landmark, eyesore, meeting place or home, held stories and memories. Come and join our artists as they work these stories and images into their artistic process and find out more about the grand design for the final installation.
Quarters Arts is community driven. We need people like you to join us in illuminating our neighbourhood as it stands, how it used to stand, and for what we want it to represent.
Call us the friends of your downtown east side; The Quarters Arts Society is a pile of producers. We want to tell your stories, share your ideas and celebrate your talents.
Thank you Boyle Street Community League
